VinS drummer educatorVin Scialla (drummer/educator) has traveled the world teaching and performing music. US Embassy and State Department entertainment tours have taken him to South America, Middle East, Egypt, Europe, Cuba and the Caribbean. He balances an audacious path as performer and teacher in New York. Vin holds a B.M. from Hartt School of Music, received his Masters at the Conservatory at Brooklyn College, and a D.M.A. candidate in music education. 
Scialla is best known for his innovative fusion of Middle Eastern, Italian, North Indian and American musical traditions. Inspired by his cultural heritage, combined with his performances with masters of Arabic and Indian Classical music in New York, he covers many aspects of non-Western percussion and adapts these traditions for jazz drumset. He performs with Liftoff Brass Band, recorded an album with jazz artists Brian Charette, Eric Schugren, Mike DiRubbo (Liftoff Records/PrimeD), Snehasish Mozumder, Sameer Gupta, Jason Lindner (Random Chance Records), Brooklyn Raga Massive: Terry Riley's "In C" (Northern Spy Records), and Mission: on Mars with Neel Murgai.
Vin has worked as a musician in film/tv including Late Night (featuring Emma Thompson) as drummer/bandleader, and composed music for feature film The Mountain (featuring Jeff Goldblum). Vin has written a drum instructional book/video for drumteacher.com and he recently performed at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors with Snehasish Mozumder, and at Symphony Space and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall with Alessandra Belloni and I Giullari Di Piazza. He has played in the pit for Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including Tick Tick Boom, and recently as sub/understudy for the Tony Award Winning Broadway show, The Bands Visit. His educational sponsors include RemoSabian, and Sennheiser.
